Adding a second skein of yarn when I am still working with the first skein of yarn and is still attached

Hello I am knitting a sweater and I am starting the divide for the plackets.

My instructions are to:
work in pattern across 74sts, cast on 6sts;for right shoulder, join second skein of yarn,K6,P1. Work rem sts in pattern 80 sts on each side. (note:work both shoulders at same time using separate skein for each shoulder.

I have gotten to the point where I cast on 6sts, but I am not sure how to add a second skein of yarn when I am still working with the first skein of yarn and is still attached without adding anymore stitches?

Totally Confused

Basically what you are doing is starting to knit the two sides as separate pieces from this point.

The original skein of wool is used to knit the first side, and you join the second skein of wool to the second side. So for each row, you are knitting one row on each piece.

How do you join the second skein without adding more stitches?

YOUR ANSWER

You don't need to add more stitches, you just start knitting the stitches that are left on the left hand needle with the new skein of wool.

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
