Attaching two skeins

I am a mere beginner, and I have finished one skein of yarn and need to connect the second to finish the scarf i'm knitting, but I have no idea how.

Usually it is much easier to change skeins at the beginning (or end) of a row. All you need to do is to start knitting with the new skein. Once you have done a few stitches with the new yarn, stop and turn the work so that the other side is facing you. Tie the two tails (one from the new skein and the other from the old skein) together. Then you can turn your knitting back so that you can continue knitting.
