changing colors

I am making a baby sweater that requires many color changes. I have finished the front right section and the yarn changes will be in the side seam. How do I get the yarn changes in the side seem of the front left section. They told me to reverse the decrease at the arm for this side, but I think that all those yarn changes should be at the side seam.

I think this is important because I have to pick up the stitches to make the button bands in the front.

YOUR ANSWER

Yarn changes typically happen on the right hand side of your knitting with the right side facing, regardless of which piece of the sweater you are working on.

So they will be on the edge that you add the button bands to. But this is not a problem as you can use a knitters needle (sewing needle) to weave the ends in the same way you would for a normal seam.
