Circular needles instead of double pointed needles

by Carol

I was wondering how to use a circular needles instead of double pointed needles for a hat. I heard something about a loop method...

What is that?

YOUR ANSWER

You can use circular needles instead of double pointed needles to make a hat providing that the number of stitches fits comfortably around the needle.

When you get to the decreases you will probably have to use more than one. As the circular needles are flexible you could probably get away with using two, with half of the stitches on one and the rest on another.

Just do a search for knitting Magic Loop and you will find links where you can print out the steps for using a circular needle no matter what size your 'tube'.

You can also watch a video on the technique at

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
