Decrease Question

by Unknown

What does "decrease every 4 rounds" mean? Is it knit on the fourth row or fifth?

Thanks!

YOUR ANSWER

This instruction generally means that you decrease every fourth row, but your question on whether the first decrease in on the fourth or fifth row will depend on the instructions provided just before this one.

Quite often you will see this type of instruction preceded by something like this:

Decrease at both ends of the next and every following fourth row

In this case, you would decrease on the 1st and fifth, ninth rows etc. However, if the the instructions just before this one do not include shaping, i.e.

Knit until work measures 23cm

Then your decrease rows would be the fourth, eighth, twelfth rows etc.
