Decreasing Row How do I do this?

by Linda
(NC)

I have 70 stitches on my needle: I am ready to work a decrease row As follows

Decrease Row* Patt 45sts, work 2 tog, patt45sts, rep from *to last 010sts, patt04sts, work 2 tog 01time,patt04sts-5464sts.

I think I am to end up with 64 but i am not sure how.

My pattern row would be *P3,k1,p3,k3 rep from * to end.

YOUR ANSWER

Does your stitch pattern create a recognizable pattern as you knit? If so you just follow the pattern already set between the decreases and work your way across the row.

If it doesn't you can work it out with a pen and paper.

Your pattern is P3,k1,p3,k3 repeated across the row. So long hand it would look something like this:

P3,k1,p3,k3,P3,k1,p3,k3,P3,k1,p3,k3,P3,k1,p3,k3...

Just work in the decreases:

Decrease Row* Patt 45sts, work 2 tog, patt45sts, rep from *to last 010sts, patt04sts, work 2 tog 01time,patt04sts-5464sts.

P3, k1, p3 - replace with k2tog, p1, k3,P3 - replace with p1, k2tog, k1, p3, k3 - replace with k2tog, k1, P3, k1, p3, - replace with k2tog, p2, k3 - replace with k1, k2tog, P3, k1, p3 - replace with k2tog, p1 k3...and so on.
