Guernsey cast on

by Lizzie
(Adelaide)

Can you describe how to do a Guernsey cast-on? I have instructions with my pattern that involve 3 balls of wool and winding two strands around the thumb, but I just can't make sense of them! Will be most grateful for any help.

YOUR ANSWER

I have never actually used this method of casting on so I am afraid I can't be of much help. I had a look online and found that Cleckheaton has instructions for a Guernsey cast on on their website.

Give me a day or so and I will have a bit of a play and see if I can work it out for you. When I do, I will post the results on this page.

These are the very instructions that have been doing my head in! (and that of my saner more patient and conscientious knitting buddy) If anybody can make sense of them, I'm dying to hear from you. Thanks in advance for all help and suggestions. - Lizzie
