Hold 2 strand together

Hello, I am new at knitting and I would love to knit an afghan.

The note on my pattern tells me to hold 2 strands of yarn togeather. So I am thinking I need to work with 2 balls of yarn. It is all one color.

Thank you so so much for taking the time to read this.

God bless you and your's.

Lois

YOUR ANSWER

Usually that is exactly what it means. Does the afghan pictured on the pattern look like it is made out of thick wool?

Working with 2 balls at the same time (knitting them together) is used when the yarn needs to be thicker for the pattern.

Using 2 x 4 ply is like knitting with 8 ply, using 2 x 8 ply is like knitting with 16 ply and so on.

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
