I'm not sure how to follow my pattern, PLZ HELP...

Hi,
I'm trying to work on a pattern from bernat. It's a cardigan. I will paste part of the pattern, and explain what I don't understand.

--------------------------------------------------------
LEFT FRONT: **Cast on 41 (45-49) sts.

1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row. This row forms seed st pat.
Work a further 21 rows in seed st.**

Next row: (RS). [K9 (10-11). M1 K8 (9-10). (P1. K1) 3 times.

Next row: K1. (P1. K1) 3 times. Purl to end of row. 44 (48-52) sts.
--------------------------------------------------------

Ok so I finished the 21 rows at the beginning.

Now I am at the Next row. I understand that it wants me to (P1, K1)x3...but the rest of the row, the instructions are not sufficient for all the stitches.

Then if you look at the last row, supposedly i'm suppose to have gained 3 extra stitches. How does this happen, if I can't repeat everything in the row (above it) x3?

Please help. I really appreciate any and all advise. Thank you!

YOUR ANSWER

I have had a look for you and I think the instructions should look more like this:

Next row: (RS). K9 (10-11), * M1 K8 (9-10), rep from * 2 more times, (P1. K1) 3 times.

But even then the numbers don't add up. If your pattern specifies M1 to be picking up the thread between stitches to form a new stitch, you will be 2 stitches short. If it tells you that M1 is knit into the front and back of the next stitch, you will have one too many.

So I think it is a problem with the pattern. All I can suggest is that you go back to bernat and see if they have published any amendments or updates for the pattern.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
