I'm stuck

by Nancy

I am working on an afghan and I need help. The pattern is trees and has a dot in each square (for knit or purl) then there is a slash in the next square (which means to add a stitch). The square that I'm stuck on has a slash and in the upper corner of the same square it has a dot.

Could anyone explain what this means?

Thank you so much, Nancy

Hi Nancy

Generally when you are knitting a graph like this you only knit in the contrast colour where there is a complete square. When you are finished your knitted piece you then go back and embroider around the edges of your pattern following the lines on the graph using the contrast colour.

To see what I mean, compare the graph in the photo to this one I have created.

You would only knit the stitches with black dots in the contrast colour and then you would go back and embroider the red lines (also in the contrast colour).

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
