Knitting BooksAre you looking for some good knitting books? All of the books reviewed on this page are in my own knitting collection. Some I use all the time, others only occasionally but all have been useful at one time or another. Before you race out and buy your books, have a look at my book reviews to find the one or ones that are right for you. Finishing Stitches for Hand Knitters
Knitting 200 Q and A
This book does include clear, detailed illustrations that help to explain specific techniques and effects, and it is one of the books I have had in my collection for quite a while. Knitting Basics
With easy to follow instructions, patterns, hints, tips and techniques. Knitting Essentials
I have several stitch pattern books in my collection but this is the one I turn to time and time again. Personally, I think it is good value for money particularly if you want to customise your knitting. Knitting Essentials (e-Book)
Discover the secret that will have you knitting brilliant, timeless designs in no time at all. Even if you have absolutely no knitting experience what so ever! Want to know what I think? This is a reasonable 'starter' book with clear instructions and some helpful information on the history of knitting and selecting the right yarn among other things. If you buy this book you will also be signed up to receive a mini e-course which will arrive in your mailbox daily. But to be quite frank, unless you prefer your reference material in an electronic format, or you want it right now, your money would be better spent on one of the hard cover books on this page. Knitting for Dummies Series of Books
This revised and expanded edition not only provides the latest information and resources, but also step-by-step how-to instructions for all the knitting techniques explained in the book. I have found that the Dummies Series of Books are well written and easy to follow, even if you are not familiar with the concepts discussed in the book. If you don't have access to an experienced knitter to teach you or to answer your questions, this book is a good choice! Knitting Handbook
Patons How to Knit
This book not only contains clear step by step instructions with clear diagrams to demonstrate each technique, but also patterns for twenty easy projects for you to get started with. The projects include patterns for scarves, adult jumpers and homewares. If you are new to knitting and don't want to spend a lot of money, this book would be a good choice. Teach Yourself Visually - Knitting
You begin with the essential knit and purl stitches and advance to bobbles, cables, lace, and fancy color work. With fun, innovative patterns from top knitting designer Sharon Turner, you'll be creating masterpieces in no time!
