Knitting in Reverse

Hi I am trying to knit a wild flower shawl pattern. At the edging, it works till row 12 then it goes off in the wrong direction.

Row 1: (ws) K2, P9, K2

Row 2: k7, yo, sl1, k1, psso, yo, k4

Row 3 (and every other wrong side row): K2,p to last 2 stitches k2

Row 4: k6 *yo, sl1, k1, psso *repeat* to *, 2 times, Yo, k4

Row 6:k5, *yo, sl1, K1 psso* repeat from * to * 3 times yo, K4

Row8: K 4,* yo, sl1, k1, psso* repeat from* to * 4 times yo, K4

Row 10: K3 *yo, sl1, K1, psso* repeat from* to * 5 times, yo, K4

Row 12: k4,* yo, sl1, K1, psso* repeat from * to * 5 times, k2 to, k2

Row 14: k5,* yo, Sl1, K1, psso* repeat from * to * 4 times K2 tog, k2

Row 16: K6,* yo, sl1, K1, psso*, repeat from *to * 3 times, K2 tog, k2

Row 18: K 7,* yo, sl1, k1, psso* repeat from * to * 2 times K2tog k2

Row 20: k8, yo k1, psso ,k2tog, k2

Repeat these 20 rows till bottom of shawl begin other side reversing the directions.

I would really appreciate some help.

YOUR ANSWER

To reverse the directions you need to knit the rows in the opposite order.

Like you I often find it confusing to read a pattern backwards so what I did was to copy your pattern instructions into a spreadsheet.

I added all of the wrong-side rows so that I had all 20 rows of instructions. Then I re-sorted them into reverse order.

So here are the instructions in reverse:

Row 1: k8, yo k1, psso ,k2tog, k2

Row 2 (and every other wrong side row except Row 20): K2,p to last 2 stitches k2

Row 3: K 7,* yo, sl1, k1, psso* repeat from * to * 2 times K2tog k2

Row 4: K6,* yo, sl1, K1, psso*, repeat from *to * 3 times, K2 tog, k2

Row 6: k5,* yo, Sl1, K1, psso* repeat from * to * 4 times K 2 tog, k2

Row 8: k4,* yo, sl1, K1, psso* repeat from * to * 5 times, k2 tog, k2

Row 10: K3 *yo, sl1, K1, psso* repeat from* to * 5 times, yo, K4

Row 12: K 4,* yo, sl1, k1, psso* repeat from* to * 4 times, yo, K4

Row 14: k5,*yo, sl1, K1 psso* repeat from * to * 3 times, yo, K4

Row 16: k6 *yo, sl1, k1, psso *repeat* to *, 2 times, Yo, k4

Row 18: k7, yo, sl1, k1, psso, yo,k4

Row 20:(ws) K2, P9, K2

Nice pattern choice by the way!
