Putting a design on a sweater

How do I go about putting a 'design' on a baby sweater: EG: white sweather and I would like to knit a shamrock or heart on it ....

How do I do this?

YOUR ANSWER

You can either knit it in as you go, or you can stitch it on after you have finished.

Do you have a graph of the design? If not you will either have to get one or make one up to use. If you want to provide more details of exactly what you are trying to do, I will try to help if I can.

I'm most interested in knitting a shamrock or heart onto the middle (front, of course) of a "6 mos" size baby sweater ....

I do not have a pattern and have no idea where to start.

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
