Puzzling Abbreviation

by Mrs Parker

I have come across a puzzling abbreviation KYF in a pattern for a shawl. The abbreviation was left out of the list so I went to the designers website and found the explanation but it wasn't very clear.

"take yarn back between needles as if to knit the next stitch, then take yarn over needle" does this basically mean to wrap the wool around the needle before knitting the next stitch.

I'm puzzled.

YOUR ANSWER

I think you are right. I am assuming that the stitch before and after this one are a purl stitches.

To make a stitch you would need to take the yarn to the back and bring it over the needle so that it is ready to do the next purl stitch.

Thank you for your reply.

The stitch in question was in between a purl stitch and a knit stitch. I am now managing to knit the shawl, I just hope its finished before the baby arrives.

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
