Reading a chart question

I'm knitting in a round, and at the beginning of the round the instructions say to start with last 9 stitches of chart 2 (the chart has 18 stitches and goes for 10 rows). It says to continue in the round with other patterns as established until the last 9 stitches, then work the first 9 stitches of chart 2. After those 9 stitches I am at the beginning of the round again.

I am unsure of where I go in the chart at that point. The first 9 stitches or row 1? The second 9 stitches of row 1?

The other note is that the instructions say to work rows 1-10 in chart 2 and then continue to work 5-10 for a 6 row repeat. In that case would the next round begin with the first 9 stitches of row 5? I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks

YOUR ANSWER
To summarise, I think what you are saying is that in the first row you do the following:
  • knit the last 9 stitches of chart 2

  • knit pattern as established

  • Knit the first 9 stitches of chart 2

To get the pattern correct you would have to continue in the same way, so on each successive row you would begin with the last 9 stitches of the relevant row on chart 2 and finish with the first 9 stitches.

So the second row you would knit the last 9 stitches on row 2, knit the chart pattern for row 2 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 2.

The first four rows of your pattern are establishment rows, the repeating pattern is row 5 through 10. So what you do is knit the first four rows, then you begin the repeating pattern.

i.e., knit rows 5 through 10 and repeat.

Row 1:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 1, knit the chart pattern for row 1 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 1

Row 2:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 2, knit the chart pattern for row 2 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 2

Row 3:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 3, knit the chart pattern for row 3 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 3

Row 4:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 4, knit the chart pattern for row 4 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 4

Row 5:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 5, knit the chart pattern for row 5 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 5

Row 6:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 6, knit the chart pattern for row 6 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 6

Row 7:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 7, knit the chart pattern for row 7 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 7

Row 8:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 8, knit the chart pattern for row 8 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 8

Row 9:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 9, knit the chart pattern for row 9 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 9

Row 10:

Knit the last 9 stitches on row 10, knit the chart pattern for row 10 and finish with the first 9 stitches of row 10

Row 11:

Repeat row 5

Row 12:

Repeat row 6

Row 13:

Repeat row 7

Row 14:

Repeat row 8

Row 15:

Repeat row 9

Row 16:

Repeat row 10

Row 17:

Repeat row 5 etc.

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.
