Right Needle Size for 12 Ply

by Didn't Say...

I have some 12ply wool to make a hot water bottle cover.

What size needles should I use for 12ply, and what size should I use if I don't want the knitting to be too tight?

YOUR ANSWER

Normally you would use a pair of 5.00mm or a 5.50mm to knit a 12 ply yarn. If you find your knitting tension is naturally tight, (as mine is) I would try the 5.50mm size first.

If your knitting is still too tight, move up to a pair of 6.00mm needles.

You didn't say in your submission where you are located, so if you need some help converting the metric sizes to either UK or USA sizes you will find a conversion chart on this page.

Hope this helps...

Notice the different look and feel on some pages?

I am currently moving all of the pages to a new CSS driven template but with around 700 pages it is going to take me a while to get it done.

So in the meantime, I hope you will forgive the switch from one look to another as you navigate through the site...
