There is a typo on Row 3, should read:

p1) 4 times not p10 4 times.

This pattern is from the book, Boutique Knits by Laura Irwin. p. 39 It is called "side slip cloche"

Hat - large ruffle

co on 32 sts. Do not join.
Row 1 - (RS) (Knit 7, p1) 4 times.
Row 2 - k1,p7) 4 times.
Row 3 - (knit 5, k2tog, p10 4 times. 28 sts. remaining.

Rows 4, 6 & 8 - Work in rib pattern as established (working sts as they appear)

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO IN ROWS 4, 6 AND 8. PLEASE HELP.

Small Ruffle

co 24 sts. Do not join.

Row 1 - (RS) (k5, p1) 4times.

Rows 2 & 4 - Work in rib pattern as established.

AGAIN, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO IN ROWS 2 AND 4. PLEASE HELP.

WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
