Up 1 Stitch?

by Tubicza

I am knitting a baby dress and the sleeve direction are:

Rib 1 stitch,*up 1 stitch rib 5 stitches, repeat from * to last stitch, up 1 stitch, rib

I'm not sure what up 1 stitch means.

YOUR ANSWER

Me neither...

Not an especially helpful answer I know, but I have not seen this abbreviation before. Does your pattern have a glossary section that provides instructions for the abbreviations?

All I can suggest is that you check the pattern to see if they do explain what 'up 1 stitch' means and if not, maybe you could contact the publisher and ask for clarification. These days most of the major knitting pattern producers have a website that you can check.

It's a long shot but it could be a typo in the pattern and if so they should be able to provide an update or amendment for that pattern.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful...
