dont know how to do a stitch

I am doing a pattern and it states yon (yarn over needle), then k1tbl (knit through back of loop) sorry just cannot understand this.

Please help - thank you.

YOUR ANSWER

YON means that you move the yarn from the front of the work to the back over the needle to form a new stitch. I am assuming that the stitch you have just completed was a purl stitch?

Then for the K1tbl you insert the tip of right hand needle into the back of the next stitch rather than the front, as you normally would when knitting a stitch.

Then you just wrap the yarn around the tip of the right hand needle and pull through to form the stitch.
