This pretty butterfly lace knitting stitch pattern is easy to do and the end result is rather effective.  It is knitted over a multiple of 8 stitches plus 7 and 8 rows.

This is a relatively easy lace stitch pattern.  You do need to watch what you are doing the first couple of times through the pattern instructions though, as unlike a lot of other simple lace knitting stitch patterns, the wrong side rows for this particular pattern vary within each repeat.

Instructions for the Butterfly Lace Knitting Stitch Pattern

This all over lace pattern, repeats the pattern as given above over a multiple of 8 stitches plus 7.  

1st row (right side) : K1, *k2tog, yfwd, k1, yfwd, (sl 1, k1, psso), k3; repeat from * to end of row.
2nd and every alt row: P3,*sl1 1 purl-wise, p7; repeat from * to end of row.

Repeat the last 2 rows once more.

5th row: K5, *k2tog, yfwd, k1, yfwd, (sl 1, k1, psso), k3; from * to last 2 sts, k2.
6th row: P7, *sl1 1 purl-wise, p7; repeat from * to end of row.

Repeat the last 2 rows once more.

Repeat these eight rows to the length required.
