The Garter Slip Stitch Knitting Stitch Pattern is another very versatile textured knitting stitch that is not only very effective but quite easy to do and therefore suitable for beginners with a little bit of knitting experience.  If you have mastered knit stitches and you are looking for a little bit of a challenge and something different to plain garter stitch, you could give this stitch pattern a try.

Instructions for Garter Slip Stitch Knitting Stitch Pattern

The Garter Slip stitch knitting stitch pattern is knitted over any multiple of 2 sts and 4 rows.

The instructions for Bramble Stitch are as follows:

1st row (right side) : Knit all stitches.
2nd row: Knit all stitches.
3rd row: K1, *sl 1 purlwise (leaving the yarn at the back), k1; rep from * to end of row..
4th row: K1,*yfwd, sl 1 purlwise, ybk, k1; rep from * to end of row.

Repeat these four rows until your knitting is the desired length.

The Garter Slip Stitch knitting stitch pattern work very well when you use two or more colours.  All you need to do is to change colour after each 2nd and 4th row and you will get an effect something like the second image below:

My samples are in a single colour and using two colours but you do not need to limit yourself to just 2 colours, three or four colours works just as well.  So please do experiement and have a bit of fun with it!
